The announced attendance was a little over 18,000. Not a good showing of support in my mind. It looked like maybe there was more poeple than that there but there were also alot of empty seats.

It looked like a lot more than 18,000 to me...there were certainly some empty seats but not any huge blocks and the grass looked scattered but well represented.

Considering most of the week everyone was worried about getting hit by a tropical storm. I think 18K is just fine. I think we will average a little over 18K for most games, with Appy and Samford (homecoming) being over 20K. That would be a pretty typical turnout.

gas will lower the number of games people go to.

What was the price of gas this time last year? I think it was about the same.

The opening day of dove season has ALWAYS affected our crowd and held the numbers down of that date.

I'm just glad duck season starts when it does... it's the week AFTER the Furman game and I have a free hunt that some clients are taking me on. I'd sure hate to miss a free hunt like that.

The funny part is that it was about $.15 cheaper in Atl than it was in the Boro. I guess they hiked it up do to the possible storm coming and hoping to get a few extra bucks out of it.

18k a game is seems pretty good to me.
Anybody know how that stacks up against the openers for the last few years?

not for all games.............in fact the security guards would not let students go in the section unless they had a ticket

in my situation, the 4 home games in a row is the issue. i will not drive likely drive to statesboro 11 hours round trip 4 weekends in a row.
it would also be a problem to miss responsibilities 4 weekends in a row with my son playing high school football, church and running my business.
i choose to go to the 2 conference games in sept and gave my tickets to the 1st 2 home games away.
as a side note, the best part of this schedule is that it puts the UTC, U G A, and WCU games close to me so i can attend a lot of games this time as day trips.

If gas is the reason for the reduction in attendence then somebody should tell all of those students that drove home and to Athens...and let them know they can walk down the street and enjoy one of the bset college game experiences in the country.
From my side of the field I was looking accross at the student section wishing I was 19 years old again...IT LOOKED AWSOME
I just can not believ that we don't have 15,000 student at each game

Totally agree. I know Atlanta isn't all that far away, but making that trip every weekend for a month is very difficult for me to do jobwise (I work retail, not exactly the best business to take weekends off) as well as financially.
4 Home games in a row is great for the students, but tough for out of town fans.

18K is not stellar for GSU but not horrible either.

On the coach's show last night, Harvo stated attendance was over 20 k, I know what the official attendance states, but it sure did seem like more than that.

Although I agree it is a stupid way to schedule the games this season, it actually worked out for me. We are leaving our RV at the Parkwood RV spots instead of driving it back and forth every week. It will cost a buck a day for storage instead of about $800 for gas.

I had to attend a wedding at 5:00 pm on Saturday. As soon as it was over I drove to Statesboro. I got there 1 minute before halftime. I skipped the reception and now my friend is pissed but that's what he gets for having a wedding during CFB season.

Weak showing by our fans. The student side was great. The students are really carrying the attendance.
