There are fireworks after the game Saturday...I have not had a good experience with fireworks after our football games.

I thought they mentioned that it was during halftime?

It might be either way I hate fireworks it brings back bad memories.

Agreed. If it's after the game it a little too presumtuous for me with this team... it's not 1999/2000 anymore. We could have had fireworks after almost every home game during that run.

I also think that I heard halftime.

Halftime is way better, the only problem is the lights in the stadium and it possibly not being dark enough.

9th September 2008, 05:33 PM
In 2007 the fireworks were during halftime and it was still light out. It was ok but of course would look better when it's completely dark. After the 2006 "scrimmage" I can also understand why we won't do fireworks AFTER a game for a long, long, long time.

The Braves shoot off Fireworks and many other MLB do as well on designated nights post game, win or lose.

After that debacle, we should've never done them... EVER...

So the company that we paid to do them should have done what with them instead of shoot them off? Should we have paid them to set them up and then take put them back on the shelf and then paid them again to set them up the next week to finally shoot them off? Then what if we lost the next week, too?

There you go using logic again KJ. You know that's not allowed on TSC.

You offer the company free advertising in the future or something. Do whatever it takes even if it costs the school money. What you don't do with them is use them to celebrate a Central Conn. St. victory in Paulson. But I understand. When you have the best coach in the country coaching a "scrimmage" there's no need for a Plan B.

We did the right thing. If my company had paid the money I would have demanded they shoot them off. Win or lose it was right choice.

How about we just win and then we'll watch the fireworks afterwards?

My opinion would be no fireworks after a loss. Hard to be in a festive mood after losing.

What about the families who only make 1 game and choose the fireworks game?

I pray you don't own a business.

I can see why they shot them off. I mean they spent money why not. However, after losing two games in a row (may be wrong on that) where I scheduled fireworks
I would take it as an omen and just go ahead and throw that idea out the window. Give away free blue out t-shirts...I can think of a million things to do with the money spent on fireworks

Well...maybe it's not just the win that's being celebrated - maybe it the game itself, the efforts of the student athletes and the coaches, the recognition of pure athletic competition..celebrating 18k people coming together to give some of those kids the thrill of their life, the cheers, the claps on the back and the applause - or maybe the possibility of a once in a lifetime thrill for the spectators (AP and The Run)...maybe it's not just about the final numbers on the scoreboard or which team made the most tackles or yards per carry or passes completed...maybe it's a celebration of life, the good and the bad, the hardships and highlights reflected in a game....

....or maybe it's just somebody wanting to see things go boom.

Exactly! Good food, good friends, great football on a Saturday night...add in a few choice drinks and some fireworks and what more could a guy ask for?!?

MORE THAN ANYTHING -------
Know what bothers me???????

Forget the fireworks, HOW ABOUT

We didn't look good against A-Peay

They were beating or tied with us for a majority of the game - AND

THEY ARE TERRIBLE - they lost to A GOOD ND STATE team by 35 pts.

and we couldn't finish them off until at the end ONLY because of a string of fumbles!!!

THATS WHAT BOTHERS ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So losing to NDSU who is arguably the best team in the country by 35 makes them terrible? I'm not saying it makes them great, but NDSU is going to beat a lot of teams by more than that this year.

You do realize that we have about 70 freshmen and sophmores right? Most of them playing in their second college football game ever. Give the kids a break and realize that we are going to have a lot of ups and downs this year and maybe next before the ship gets righted for good.

Exactly, you have to respect the fact that a team this young worked through the downs and kept moving forward. It wasn't the best executed game, but they worked together as a team and showed determination.

your missing my point -
I'm not attacking the players or coaches

I realize we're young and inexperienced. The Coaches are doing a GREAT job. I have not nor will not criticizing what CH or his staff is doing. BECAUSE - I believe THEY HAVE A PLAN and it is in the works.

What I'm saying is - Due to the above - EVERY GAME is going to be a Dog Fight

We HAVE no EASY games.

There isn't ANYTHING we can do as fans but sit back and watch, HOWEVER

INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT FIREWORKS

Lets be more focused on the TEAM, PLAYERS, OPPONENTS, etc.

Who gives a rats butt about a supersticious firework episode in the past.
WORRY ABOUT TODAY.

I think focusing/discussing if Rozier will ever get back - if-when the O-line will realy start working as a cohesive unit, etc. are more important then if and when someone is going to light some fireworks after the game.

And if YOU don't think A-Peay is a joke of a team - BE serious !!!!

Last year they LOST to Gardner Webb 13-20 and barely SAMFORD 28-25

We put them on the schedule to be our FLUFF game, come on guys FACE REALITY !!!

All that stuff is discussed in other threads. What's wrong with talking about fireworks in a thread devoted to fireworks? It seems like a relevant topic based on the stats.

What is important in the Austin Peay game is that we had the opportunity to run away with the game, but the execution was sloppy with turnovers, etc. Don't get too hung up on one game, and realize that there is real potential in this team. Clean up the execution and the results will speak volumes.

No, before the season I considered that we had 70 FR and SO and figured that EVERY game we have could go either way. Did I think we would win the game, yes, and we did. Now it's over and time to play the next one. Flip a coin before the game and maybe you can have a clue how we will play. That is our lot in life right now with so many young players. The more they play together, the better off we are going to be. That is the same reason we lost to UTC (who only won 2 frickin games last year) and beat Woffie and Appy.

You are correct if you want to discuss FIREWORKS this is the thread for it.

I was expecting to discuss FOOTBALL based on the title, and was a little thrown off guard by the what the thread starter wanted to talk about, once I got into the post.

I am sorry, not being sarcastic, if I offended anyone by trying to focus on the team and football on this thread.

My Bad - I was thinking your response to this question was "NO" not "Yes" - honest mistake - look at how you started your response.

I misunderstood your response. Without being able to see the person or hear how he is responding to a question - sometimes this happens.

You Are Correct then WE ARE NOT IN AGREEMENT -
I firmly believe that this was originally put on the schedule as a FLUFF game.
I firmly believe THEY STINK - APEAY, that is.
My frustration came from or was directed at the fact that--
We should be talking about OUR team, its play, injuries, etc.. more than FIREWORKS. THAT is what I'm talking about, but the other guy is correct this thread was started to talk about FIREWORKS not football.
