PS3 or xbox 360 for Madden and Ncaa 09? I like to play online but the PC platform is dead so what is my best option?
I'm totally behind the times and need something for the man cave that I am working on. Kids have a Wii- this is for me.

I have a PS3 and love it, I'm sure the xbox people will state how much they love it. I suppose it just comes down to personal preference.

If you want to get NCAA09 you can join our PS3 dynasty as we have I believe 1 spot open.

I really don't want to spring for the "elite" xbox and I'm not a big "gamer" so will the $200 20 GB version suffice?

Since budget is in question get the xbox. I think the PS3 is still a more powerful system, it is far more expensive. The only justification is that it is also a blue-ray dvd player. Here is Wal-Marts list of PS3's (the cheapest is $399).

I went with the PS3 for the Blu-Ray player that looks great on my HDTV. The HD-DVD in the xbox is DEAD technology.

Money is not the object but online playability is. Bluray is interesting

One thing the PS3 thing does I didn't realize until I hooked it up, is that is streams photos/video's/music from my PC over my wireless network. This is especially useful for showing off photos to family of our recent trip to Italy. No more huddling around the computer. Everyone sat comfortably in the living room and watched them on TV. VERY NICE!

If that is the case go for the PS3. As far as I know you need to subscribe to xbox live which cost money for online play (I could be wrong). PS3 is free as long as you have internet access.

20 Gb is plenty unless you are a packrat looking for a digital movie storage unit.

Live! is free as well though there are some things to be had for a Gold account - runs about 50 bucks a year ... although you can get 30 day cards with most every game you buy.

I personally have no use for Bluray much ... if I want an HD movie I could see it but I'm more intrigued with streaming Netflix (360 only).

By the time the PS3 gets enough market saturation I figure we'll be talking about next gen games/consoles. PS exclusives seem to be a thing of the past.

I personally like the 360. I have a gold Live account, dont know what you get with just live, though. I know people that have a PS3 and love it. Honestly I couldnt afford a PS3. I had a playstation, then got an Xbox, so i felt like the 360 was a natural progression for me, since I was used to the controller.

As far as Madden vs NCAA, I would say NCAA, unless you really like pro football. I rented madden last week, and its ok, not great. NCAA has a much better football gameplay, IMO, and allows for a more realistic experience. However, online play might be better in Madden because so many people are in love with the game. I have found there are still a fair amount of people online playing NCAA, too.

You could always rent both games and see which one you like. NCAA was definitely my choice, tho.

I read Madden requires you to fill all 32 teams to play an online league, so that's a negative to me, but all based on word of mouth.

Seven would be nice

If you are looking to get a 360 I'd wait a month or two. The new "batch" are shipping with a new motherboard/chipset and that is supposedly going to cut down on a lot of the issues the 360s have. (if you are unaware, google xbox360 ring of death, and you will get plenty of pissed off gamers rants) Either way, buying the warranty for it wouldn't hurt, especially if you have kids.

Yesterday when I posted all of this I had returned from a convention where we had several vendors giving away nice door prizes. Since I have an aversion to salespeople, I went and registered for the door prizes and the 3 grand prizes and left. THIS MORNING I get a call from one of our vendors and GUESS FReAKIN' WHAT!!! I WON a PS3 in the drawing for one of the 3 grand prizes and she needed to know where to ship it. I guess my decision was made for me, but I'll believe it when I see it on my doorstep. Thanks for all the advice, and those of you playing PS3, I will catch up with you later.

What about the Atari 64

Sorry, I still have one of the 1st PONG games complete with the little gun that shoots the blip moving across the screen. Atari was too advanced for me.

OK, I finally received my PS3 and bought another controller and NCAA '09. I 've played 1 game so far online and that was last night. I lost 14-7 after getting intercepted in the end zone. How does the online community work, and can I play GSU some sort of way ?

NWGaEagle

NCAA 09 doesn't have GSU in the game nor does it have the create a team function from previous versions. :(

Well that just bites. I don't have a second favorite team other than whoever plays thUGA.

Most of use just chose teams at random based on the roster. I ended up with West Virginia because Noel Devine is the best player I've ever seen in the game.
