View Full Version : Endzone flip

Did anyone else see that last night? What's your thoughts? I personally don't like it one bit. I remember PJ saying, "Act like you been there before". GSU has always been a humble classy program that sports it's flash in the numbers on the scoreboard, not with endzone flips and personal celebrations.

If ya dont know enough bout GSU football to even know who did the flip keep your opinions to yourself. Just like the parking all the ones on here last year *%^#*%^#*%^#*%^#*%^#ed bout not having a parking place really showed your colors last night. They apparently bought most of the first and second row parking places and over half the places were left empty. Keep it up Southern Boosters cater to the out of town cry babys who dont even know the names of players or anything bout them. This is GSU not UGA we aint a big social club.

I'm in the band guy.
We can't focus completely on the game, especially when someone is scoring. We play this thing that you might have heard of, it's called the fight song.
Actually, I'm going to edit and come back for more. There are 64,000 people in Bulloch County. Probably 1/3 of those watch football. That's enough to fill Paulson. Problem is, over half of THOSE probably hate GSU because of the students and how we "infringe" on THEIR turf. I'll tell ya what. If you have some problem with me not remembering who it was, just PM me. No sense in exchanging childish insults in public. Might as well do it privately.

The original poster knows enough about GSU football, and I'm absolutely certain he knows who he was talking about.
Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.
The player has talent, but it's still a TEAM game, if you look at the way GSU has been trained over the years. You would never have seen Tracy, AP, Chaz, Greg, or Raymond do that. The only two Eagles I have seen routinely flip into the endzone were E.T. and J R Revere, and it would ALWAYS be over the goaline, over a defender ... not 10 feet deep into the endzone.
Not a great lesson for a senior to pass down to the rest of the team, IMO.

Just for info here - my space was empty, ok...I missed the first game - I guess I'm one of the "out of town crybabies" that is not a true GSU fan because my spot was open - guess the fact my 80 year old mother had a failure in her pacemaker power supply and I didn't want to be too far from her if she had a problem makes me a bad fan. Hopefully she'll have the surgery tomorrow and will be okay by next week-end so I can make the game.
This parking issue is ridiculous - just opens up a whole new can of worms, then there's the true fans always flaming others AND THE TEAM, I'm already ashamed of some of the stuff I read on here - already Coach Hatcher is clueless and the team is an embarassment - suggestions concerning taking out the other QB by hitting his knees...shheeesh brand new boards and still the same old same old....jeez what would have happened if we'd lost?

Do you think we might have given enough money over the years to have the opportunity to buy TWO spots. And if several boosters that have given enough to buy the extra spots parked together then it might give the appearance that nobody came. We just have the room for a bigger tailgate. Quit your crying.

For F*&K SAKE
We all went to the same school and share the same drive to have CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. Some people may have busy lives and live in ATLANTA home of the WORST PAPER the AJC that only covers the SEC. They barely cover GT here. With that said some folks do not have time to get on websites to learn the name of every single kid on the team or just plain out forget. I get on this website on a regular basis and see the same people trying to start crap and hiding behind their computers. Take your self of you high horses and relax.
I love coming to this site to see what is happening with the GA Southern TEAMS not to hear some A hole bithcing and telling someone to keep their opinoins to his or her self because they dont know who some is. I say to those people you need to keep your opinions to your self.

You know damn well that he isn't talking about people like you, more for the people who will only make one game, and it looks bad.
Anyways, Im not gonna flame other posters, as anyone who posts or reads this boards is a true blue fan IMO, however, I will say this. I don't think that running around 115 yards total, and basically flopping into the end zone is that big of a deal. If most of you ran 115 yards full out, I am pretty sure you might flop into the end zone as well...

he's not?...how do I know that? As another poster said, people are busy, live far away, they have lives other than football...believe it or not.... my point was exactly that. Sometimes things happen that prevent attending - it's life - now there will be the constant whining from those who didn't get a parking pass because of the # of empty spots on game day. I have kids and grandkids that live too far away - ya think if they decide to visit on a "gameday" I'm gonna tell them don't come? and don't suggest me bringing them with me....they have busy lives, too and if they drive all the way here to see us for a short time and I'm gonna throw them in a car and drive some more...not....

I paid for two parking spaces and use one for my tent....when I want to bring it and set it up. Sometimes I will and sometimes I won't. When I don't and I can find someone who needs a space, I will pass it along to them. If I can't. I won't. So my space may be empty sometimes. Anytime you "assign spaces" to folks, your gonna have some empty every week. That's just part of the system as it is set up now. Those "fair weather" fan comments are totally uncalled for.

TrueBlueEagle placed everyone into the same group. Parking spaces being empty.
In reference to the penaly for Pascual lining up offsides. I don't think the flag was thrown immediately. It was thrown after Raja broke free for the TD. I would like to see the film to see when the flag was actually thrown.

Well you might be singing a different tune if it cost you us the game like it did for the Washington (?) QB. He flipped the ball up in the air after scoring with 2 seconds left in the game to bring his team within a XP of tying the game. By the book the refs called unsportmanlike conduct, which lead to a 35 yard XP which was blocked.
Instead of OT they lost the game.

Wow....this thread went crazy. Everything from parking spaces, to who's the bigger fan. I guess it just surprised me to see a player in a GSU uniform do that. The most we're used to seeing is a chest bump for celebration. When a player flips into the endzone, they increase the risk of fumble and/or injury. It's uncalled for in my book.

It looked like it was thrown as he punted. I read the first post, I understand where both of the guys are coming from. I think my only point is that we do have some fairweather fans that probably own season tickets but might have been in Athens or might have been elsewhere when they could have just as well been in Paulson Stadium. The people that post on this board don't *USUALLY* fall into that category. :)

I honestly believe it was NOT showboating, as Andrews scored on a punt return last year too, and he didn't do anything like that. But, it was jumping in there because of running nearly 110 yards total! Sure he coulda gone in there on his feet, but I don't think it was a premeditated thought, and it's not like he literally flipped into the end zone, he kinda rolled almost, and then he laid there for a second like "Damn, Im tired now".
And then he gets taken out for the next ensuing punt because he is tired. So Im wondering why everyone is taking this the way they are.

Your not serious. NOT Showboating? Does he come home after a long day at class/practice and flip through the front door of his apartment? If there were no crowds, lights, cameras, he wouldn't have done it. I've never seen anyone do this at practice.
I'm not pissed off or anything, I just don't agree with it. But I think it's crazy to think he was so tired that he couldn't stay on his feet.

It's not showboating. That is hardly a flip. I've watched it like 10 times. He's clearly exhausted after that ridiculous return and he kind of just falls in the endzone and lies there. You can see how tired he is right afterwards. If you want to see a flip, go watch a reggie bush highlight.

Wasn't it Adrian Peterson (not our AP, the "other one") that dislocated his shoulder or broke his collarbone doing that? Doesn't take much of a hit.
Raja is a quality young man and does not seem to be the type of player to do that. But I guess he let the excitement of an incredible run get the better of him. It happens. I just hope it doesn't happen anymore. As one poster said, "Act like you've been there before"

He ran about 120 yards, you ever watch sprinters? They are worn out after 100 meter dash, grab there knees, breath hard, yet they are in top shape. These guys go full speed 50 times a game, so when you run 120 yards, you don't expect him to be tired. Sure, he could have stood up grabbed his knees for a second instead, but seriously? I woulda done the same thing as a little release.
