Thread: Latest on the Sun Belt Tournament

  1. Default Latest on the Sun Belt Tournament

Anything been finalized for the rest of the week. I'm sure no games will be played today and probably not tomorrow. Have they decided when and where to make up this mess. I've heard all sorts of things.

It is a bit of a mess, I suppose, but that word seems a bit strong for a situation no one can control.
People never grow up. They just learn how to act in public.

Does that mean they are looking to be able to play multiple games at a time? i.e. - A game at J.I. Clements and a game at say, Statesboro High? or are they looking to move the entire tournament?

don't think they would move everything
probably a way to get first games in as early as possible
checking Savannah area - haven't heard about multiple games at same time but that would seem to make sense if schedule is further curtailed

I've heard Savannah is the best option: What would happen is that they would move the two Preliminary Round games and the games involving CCU and UTA to that site and play it all in one day. (Means Preliminary Round winners play DH)

USA/Troy and GS/ULL would be played at Statesboro Thursday

From there they can either continue the 2 site thing into Friday, or move everyone back to Statesboro. If they move everyone back to Statesboro, then there is the potential of having to play 3 games Sunday, 2 If necessary games and a Title game.

If all that fails, they have to make the tournament single elimination, which inhales vigorously for all involved.

Grayson Stadium already has the GHSA playoffs scheduled in Savannah. I am not sure any of the other fields would be viable options.

Armstrong? It doesn't seat much, but it would only be for preliminary round games. If not the high school's, next option would be Lake Olmstead in Augusta or Luther Williams in Macon.

There is SSU, but after visiting it this season, I was not impressed.

And those GHSA games are likely to get pushed back a day as well. Does Armstrong have a field that would be acceptable?
