Thread: Overall health of the athletic department

  1. Default Overall health of the athletic department

As the old saying goes a rising tide lifts all boats.

With the shambles our football program is in at the moment I think it will impact the entire department, if it hasn't already.

    Our football progran is 0-3
    Volleyball is 3-8
    Women's soccer 3-5-1
    Men's soccer 4-4
Women's golf just finished next to last in a 17 team field.
Cross Country just finished 7th only ahead of 3 DII programs.
We needed coaching changes in women's tennis and softball.

I am optimistic about baseball, men's golf and maybe men's basketball.

Trying times for Eagle Nation indeed.

Seriously, if we aren't competitive in ANYTHING, why does the AD have a 5 year extension? Man, I need that kind of gig..

Only chance of this team winning less than 6 games is if it's ravenged by injuries. Anybody predicting 4 wins or some crap like that is clueless. Post Arkansas St game is going to be fun around here to watch the crow being eaten. Heck, even post UNH is going to provide some fun.

Remember back in the SoCon when we used to win in the non-revenue sports? Me neither.
Hey TK! Change the culture back!

If you think TK is the reason we don't have better non-conference football schedules, see this post.

    1) we are on probation\scholarship reduction for the football program
    2) Co OC lawsuit
    3) multiple people let go for run ins with law\school\fake resume

Just gives fuel to the anti TK crowd, even though historically we've been bad all all but 2 sports. Football and baseball. Basketball has been average over our history with a few good runs here and there.
No longer eating crow for saying "The TO is gone get over it!!"

Not to be a smart ***, but if he's supposed to be a good AD, wouldn't we see some marked improvement in non-revenue sports or is status quo and worse the expectation here? No fuel needed.

In 2017, I do not think priority is given to anything that starts with "non-revenue...."

I get that most could care less about the non revenue sports, but everything in any good organization filters down from the top. So in our case, from the AD and football program down. There has been move revenue raised and some decent facility improvements. Those are positives for TK. Hiring of coaches has been a mixed bag from very good to poor. On many levels I like TK and some I don't. But as more losses mount this fall in football the whole brand suffers.
