how much are they paying him? Probably easier to make a slam dunk hire like that when you can afford to pay 1.5M or so.

UCF is a peer to GS. The purpose of the post is to draw a comparison to an AD and an athletics department absolutely killing it versus one that is getting killed. If the truth hurts so be it. I remember (and yearn for a return to) a time when GS didn't accept and make excuses for gross underachievement- notice I didn't say mediocrity as that would be an improvement.

Some of you can be happy with the current state because of social considerations (which is the epitome of selfishness) but I want GS to be like UCF, building an indoor practice facility, going 12-0, hiring the hottest coaches in G5, playing in prime time, and getting multi million dollar payouts which keep the cycle going and the program flourishing.

Oh, and guess what? GS has to recruit against that in Central and Northern FL. Remember those couple of OL that flipped on signing day a couple of years ago? They're playing on New Year's Day now.

One that actually does it is UCF under AD Danny White, a rising superstar AD. He just hired Josh Heipel to replace Scott Frost, the perfect follow up hire to a great coaching hire in Frost in 2015. White also brought Johnny Dawkins to UCF to coach hoops last year.

Some AD's talk the talk, some walk the walk and the results bear it out. Danny White is on fire. Perhaps other AD's we know could take a lesson....

EDIT: White just announced that Heipel is bringing Randy Shannon with him as DC. Wow...

Easier but we were rumored to be close to 1M for Houston our first choice. At that level we can have a ton of FBS OC's if not all of the G5 ones and all but the JMU HC at the FCS level apparently.

My hope here is that he was holding out for the UCF job or something of the sort and got burned. Hope it doesn't lead him to USA or ULL though.

If he lands a ULL or USA I will puke but be glad they are in the West.

Must be nice to have an athletics budget north of $45 million, huh?

It's a nice hire, but doesn't knock my socks off by any means. Mizzou had one great year of offense and on a year when the SEC East was particularly weak.

Hey TK! Change the culture back!

If you think TK is the reason we don't have better non-conference football schedules, see this post.
