1. Swimming and Diving named an All-Academic Team

[College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its Fall Academic All-American Teams today, and Georgia Southern made the list with a 3.38 GPA. Swimming & Diving’s GPA was the 18th highest GPA in Division I.]

2. Triangle Orders Up Some Cupcakes

[Triangle football could go into diabetic shock thanks to all the sugary Division I-AA cupcakes coming to town in 2009. The games might be tasty for the schools, but it won’t make the cost of season tickets any easier to swallow for fans that want to see compelling home football games. North Carolina went for the extra frosting with the Citadel and Georgia Southern. NC State added the sprinkles with Murray State and Gardner-Webb. The Blue Devils welcome Richmond and N.C. 3. Meeks, Salinas sign with Georgia Southern University, Bethel College

[A pair of Fannin County High School football players will continue their careers after signing with colleges on Wednesday. Offensive lineman Bryant Meeks signed a letter of intent to play on a full scholarship at Georgia Southern University, while fellow lineman Salinas signed a grant-in-aid to play at Bethel College.]

4. Baylor Soccer Trio Sign Scholarship Papers

[Baylor seniors Caroline Scales, Sarah Gawthrop, and Cydney Parkes have announced their plans to play soccer in college next year. Scales has signed to play at Georgia Southern University, Gawthrop committed to play at Tennessee Tech University, and Parkes announced she will play at Savannah College for Art and Design.]
