Each day we strive to find article links involving Georgia Southern athletics and former Georgia Southern athletes. Should you find we missed an article link, please reply to help keep the Eagle Faithful informed:

1. Softball Sweeps Florida A&M for Fourth Straight Win

[“We got off the bus and started a little slow. After we talked about it, we started hitting the ball and were able to maintain that all the way through,” said head coach Maggie Johnson. “We had a lot of different people out there, and they took advantage of the opportunity.”]

2. Preseason Practice Report

[Two pitchers have stood out so far. “Chris Mederos has been impressive his last couple of outings. Charles Matthews out of the bullpen has been very consistent here in preseason practice,” stated Hennon. “I think Kyle Blackburn has been swinging a hot bat. Overall I like the effort we have been getting.”]

3. Henton Leaves Eagles To Seek Opportunities Elsewhere

[Antonio Henton, the starting Georgia Southern quarterback for the majority of the 2008 season, will not be returning to the program in 2009 in order to seek playing opportunities elsewhere, according to Eagle Head Coach Chris Hatcher.]

4. Henton leaves Georgia Southern

[“It won’t affect us one bit,” Hatcher said of Henton’s departure. “Chapple was our starter coming out (end of season), and he was going to be our starter going in. Last year was a transition year from doing what we had to do our first year here with Jayson Foster to what I was hired to do.”]

5. QB Henton leaves Eagle football program

["I don't think it will affect us one bit," Hatcher said of losing Henton. "Chapple's our starter. He won the starting job with three games to go."

6. Antonio Henton On the Move Once Again?

[Injuries sustained by Chappele resulted in more time for Henton. Now with the other QB healed and ready to go, Henton isn’t a huge fan of having to earn his playing time at this point in his career. The Georgia Southern Eagles only recruited one quarterback this past off-season, so they appeared set to roll with Henton and his colleague. If Antonio decides to transfer, it is safe to say that this may hurt the depth that Georgia Southern thought they once had.]

7. Ex-starting QB quits Ga. Southern

[Former starting QB Antonio Henton has decided to leave Georgia Southern’s football team, according to a statement from the school. Henton, a former Georgia high school player of the year, transferred to Georgia Southern after spending two years at Ohio State.]
