1. Softball Travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to Face North Florida

[The Georgia Southern softball team (7-8) travels to Jacksonville, Fla. Thursday for an afternoon doubleheader at 4 p.m. with the North Florida Ospreys (6-14).]

2. Lady Eagles open with Elon

[“The kids have been working hard the last couple of days,” said Georgia Southern coach Rusty Cram. “We think we’ll be playing somewhere around that 8 p.m. or 8:30 range. 7. John Mohring Invited To Training Camp

[A linebacker, Mohring (6'1'', 232 lbs) has both AFL and af2 experience, having played for the Orlando Predators, the Alabama Steeldogs, and the Grand Rapids Rampage. He finished fifth in team history with the Georgia Southern Eagles with 302 career tackles. In 2006, he finished third in the Southern Conference with 93 tackles and recorded 14 tackles for losses, two sacks, two interceptions and recovered a fumble. He is 24.]

8. King, Clearwater Play State Semifinal Games Today

[The Cinderella of the 5A final four bracket, the unranked Lions (23-6) are led by 6-foot-7 senior power forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick. The Georgia Southern-bound standout leads King with 14.1 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.]

10. Gainesville Ends King's Season

[Day led the Lions (23-7) with 16 points while Oliver added 15 points. In his final high school game, Fitzpatrick finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. Fitzpatrick ends his career with 2,024 points and will play for Georgia Southern next season. "I don't want to say that you can't win them all, because with this team I thought anything was possible," Fitzpatrick said. "To win 21 games in a row and overcoming the adversity that we faced in the beginning of the season, then to come this far was an amazing feeling, like being on top of the world."]

11. Hurricanes earn title shot

12. ACD aiming for fifth straight championship

["It would be an honor to put my school and the rest of my teammates in a kind of hall of fame, to join just one other school that has ever done this," said Bailey who's committed to play at Georgia Southern next year. I spoke with a friend of mine who is a HS hoops official who has officiated Toarlyn Fitzpatrick a couple of days ago and he said GSU is getting a real good player and was somewhat suprised that he had signed with GSU.

Seems like a great rebounder, but that scoring average has me worried a little.
