1. Eagles Record ‘Top 10’ Finish Taking Ninth in Gary Koch Intercollegiate

[Redshirt-freshman Florian Sander earned his second ‘Top 10’ collegiate finish in his first year competing as an Eagle, carding a 211 (-5) tournament total at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate Sunday (October 4). Sander helped lead the Georgia Southern golf team to a ninth-place finish shooting a team total 862 on the par-72, 7,389 Old Memorial Golf Club.]


2. Women's Soccer Yields to UNC Greensboro

[The Georgia Southern women's soccer team (0-11-0, 0-4-0) yielded to UNC Greensboro (7-5-0, 2-1-0) 3-0 Sunday.]


3. GSU shows what it can be

[The offense dinked and dunked. The defense made critical big plays. And the Eagles overcame mistakes. This is Georgia Southern football now. Can it win a Southern Conference championship this season? No.]


4. Wofford offense really struggling

[They rank third in the country and that seems pretty good on the surface, especially considering Wofford has played FBS teams Wisconsin and South Florida. But if you take away Mike Rucker’s 65-yard run (one of the rare big plays) on Saturday, the Terriers averaged only 160 yards on the ground against Chattanooga and Georgia Southern, teams picked for the bottom half of the league.]


5. Heels saw what was coming, but ...

[Georgia Southern (3-2), the second championship subdivision opponent on UNC's schedule, comes to Chapel Hill for a 3:30 kickoff Saturday (ESPN360). The Eagles are 1-1 against teams from the Tar Heel state, beating Western Carolina but losing at Elon. UNC beat another Southern Conference team, The Citadel, 40-6 in the opener.]


6. Hester, Knox knocked out with injuries

[The Bears will have to check on running back Adrian Peterson, who was knocked out on the opening kickoff with a sprained right knee. He will undergo an MRI today, but was upbeat about his prognosis. If Peterson misses any time, it will be another blow to special teams.]


7. Bears concerned about Devin Hester's shoulder injury

[Running back Adrian Peterson sprained his right knee after slipping on special teams. He said the knee did not get hit and was unsure if he would have an MRI on it Monday. Peterson does not expect the injury to keep him from returning after the off week.]
