Each day we strive to find article links involving Georgia Southern athletics and former Georgia Southern athletes. Should you find we missed an article link, please reply to help keep the Eagle Faithful informed:

1. Turnovers Key Eagles’ Home-Opening Win

[“It’s been a long time since we’ve won a game,” said head coach Chris Hatcher. “We’re still learning our team, we’re still learning what we do well, but it was good to see that many young players today respond in the fourth quarter and we’ll take 13 more wins like the one we had today.”]

2. Volleyball Loses Two at Bear Brawl

[The Georgia Southern volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Bear Brawl hosted by Mercer.]

3. Day One at Maryland Intercollegiate Cancelled

[The arrival of Tropical Storm Hanna to Maryland's Eastern Shore has forced the postponement of Saturday's play at the Maryland Intercollegiate men's golf tournament.]

4. Henton rallies Eagles to first win

["Turnovers are always big late in the game," Eagles defensive back Chris Covington said, "and the offense fed off it. When they went down and scored, it gave (the defense) momentum. It's an awesome feeling to do your job and then see the offense turn it into points."]

5. Austin Peay keeps GSU defense on its toes

["This is a different year," said true freshman linebacker J.B. Shippy. "We have speed and emotion. (Austin Peay) had a good plan for the first half. We went into the locker room and there wasn't any finger-pointing. We played a lot better in the second half."]

6. Govs' fumbles upset chance

["You can't go into an adversarial place, turn the ball over and loose the kicking game, and that's what we did," Govs coach Rick Christophel said. "Even if we don't turn the ball over, we put ourselves in bad field position because of the kicking game so many times, and we can't win a game like that. They're a good offensive team, much better than we played last week. We have to give credit to our defense. As much as they deserve credit, so does our defense. They played hard and were well prepared. I give all that credit to Granville Eastman."]

7. Defensive unit inspired by Eastman's absence

[The Govs couldn't turn Georgia Southern's miscues into points offensively, and they fell to the No. 16 Eagles 34-20. "The kids just respect him so much," Christophel said. "It's the respect they have for him because he's a good football coach and a good man, and they were prepared. They played and did the right things."]

8. Family members struggle with the loss of 8-year-old girl in Tallahassee bus crash

[Sitting among the group was Ron Dugans, Ronshay's biological father and a former standout football player for Florida State University who later played in the NFL. Ronshay's adopted mother, Josie West, and Dugans sat on the deck and talked about their last moments with Ronshay. Ron is Josie's nephew. Dugans, now the receivers coach at Georgia Southern, said he talked to his daughter Thursday night.]

They're a good offensive team, much better than we played last week.

Yeah that blew me away when I read it. I went back to see if I read it correctly.
