Re: Your Favorite GS Football Play.....
I gotta go with Taz Dixon's interception to put us in FG range to win the 1989 NC game and cap a perfect season - Erk's last season and last game. It was a magical day.
Re: Your Favorite GS Football Play.....
I was a student from 06-09...so I have very few great plays to choose from for in person games sadly.
I guess best “play” I saw in person would have to be a grouping of all of Foster’s highlight reel moments when we beat CCU in Conway in 07. The guy was unstoppable and we had a pretty good crowd there, dang near more than the chants had.

To me, that play encapsulates everything about Georgia Southern.

I’ll take it a step farther and say the all around effort Banks gave that day encapsulates everything about Ga Southern.
And yeah I think every GSU fan was thinking the exact same thing as Toasty once it was obvious he was going to get caught from behind...PLEASE DON’T FUMBLE!!!! And if I remember correctly the DB that caught him jarred the ball loose a little but Banks kept it from getting out.

Especially after the one UF CB essentially ripped Bank's helmet off at the bottom of the monkey pile and ground his forearm into Bank's face. Then there was the infamous puking incident on the sidelines...that kid gutted out the entire game.

Banks had both arms around the ball.
The only way he was going to lose it was if they cut his arms off.
I still get chill bumps thinking about that play.

I was not going to say this until I read it. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. Since I was not around for any of the championships this was as close as I got to that kind of glory.
Re: Your Favorite GS Football Play.....
Gary Miller’s TD run against FSU in 88 that put us up 10-7, I think it was the first play of the 4th quarter.
Tracy Ham’s go ahead TD run at Northern Iowa in 1985.
Anyone remember who called that game on TV?

The pass deflection when time ran out and we drained the swamp.
The run.
Son of the run.
We lost the game but blocked an App State punt for a safety late in the 4th quarter in Boone. Would have won the game had the ball bounced in our favor.
Tyler Bass' FG.
Fumble Recovery vs App, #1 goes down!! #1 goes down!!
Don't remember the last play but beating #1 Furman in Paulson.
