  1. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

11 refers to the personnel package. 11 = 1 RB and 1 TE. This also tells you that there are 3 WRs on the field

Buzz was saying that DeBesse tends to favor different personnel packages than we did...

You are absolutely clueless and what you just said is totally off base.

    Re: Orlando Sentinel Countdown

Honestly I hope we keep a flex package because rocket toss is my favorite play hands down. We also showed that we had some constraints built off that play as well, then add in the belly play and any...

    Re: OL Progress?

Well he was pretty good at stopping an option offense last year......
  6. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

What he's really seeing is IMPROVEMENT. The kind of stuff you'd expect to see between game 1 to game 2 to game 3. Not at the end of the season. However, it was almost like a new season after Lunsford...
  7. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

It really is kind of unfair that Werts has to follow Ellison. He was probably the most natural option QB I've ever seen, although I will caveat I didn't see any of the guys before 2001 in person.
  8. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

Our offense was a grab bag from game to game, there was no "base" play at all. They had nothing to build from.

When Lunsford took over, he talked about going down to around 6 plays or so to...
  9. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

A wiser coaching staff would have simplified the scheme to a point that the entire offense could execute at a high level and expand from there.

That is not what was happening in the first 6 games.

Re: Tookie declaring for the NBA draft

Well according to our Gast friends from back when Tookie chose us over them, he can't move to his left.
  11. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

Blocks below the waist are close to being phased out. No blocking below the waist beyond 5 yards of the LoS and all low blocks outside the tackles have to be from the front.

    Going to be harder...
  12. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

He's talking about proof of improvement later in the season that people aren't noticing.

It's obvious that people remember how Werts looked against Auburn and that we lost the last game and...
  13. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

Fair enough, but to the person I originally responded to, the only real reason is because he runs the flex. Anything else didn't matter.

I do think the quality of the staff Houston was able to...
  14. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

Not arguing against any of that. His statement about resume disguises his true bias, that he wanted a flex coach.....however I don't know of one that has a resume as good as Houston's and no one...
  15. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

The only guy that really had the resume was Houston, and he declined.

    Re: Orlando Sentinel Countdown

    Who also moved on.

The Troy of today is not the Troy State that beat us as a D2.
  17. Re: Taking a closer look at quarterback play from last year

Would like to see a lot more of that from him. That's been the one criticism I've really had of his, he needs to use his size to just make devastating blocks like that.
  18. Re: Walk On Tryouts Named in Memory of Edwin Jackson

And his dad started the Georgia Southern chant on his way off the stage.

It may have been a bit dusty where I was.

    Re: 2018 Spring Game Thread

Hatcher/Gillespie made Foster into a more complete QB and absolutely maximized the use of his talents.

If anyone says that Foster was misused in 2007 I'd like to know how.

    Re: OL Progress?

I think the more accurate question is can Coach DeBesse make the difference that Coach Cook couldn't?

The OL coach implements the blocking scheme of the OC.

    Re: Sun Belt Fanbase Survey

He's saying we've needed people in the past who were also UGA fans.

His "whole and whole" comment is a shot at half as well.

    Re: OL Progress?

It's way too early, and it's against a defense that is having an easier transition than the offense.

The first true indication will be what we look like against another team, so there's going to...

    Re: OL Progress?

It's going to look similar to what we ran under Fritz. DeBesse was the OC for Fritz in 2010/2011 before Ruse took over. Also look at UNM games, and you'll see it looks very similar.
