    Re: OT: New Traditions

How did multiple decades of being the best team in the state help Southern Miss?

    Re: OT: New Traditions

The other curious thing is that they think it will make such a big difference to the program if we do win.

    You are my soul mate.
  4. Re: The Problen with the 2019 nay sayers predicting 6-6

Yes . . . down the road. Not as true freshmen.
  5. Re: The Problen with the 2019 nay sayers predicting 6-6

    +1.

A full season in the system+a full offseason will make a big difference for our returning linemen.

McGriff might crack the two-deep, but there aren’t exactly many open spots. Assuming Drew...
  6. Re: The Problen with the 2019 nay sayers predicting 6-6

I’ve heard that his HS coaches consider this the case, and that he made an excellent impression on the GS coaches this spring.

Supposedly, he’s a good kid who flips the switch to nasty when he...
  7. Re: The Problen with the 2019 nay sayers predicting 6-6

Yeah. I have no idea how well he can (or will) throw or pitch, but IMO he runs like a Dan Mullen QB, if you know what I mean.

You could run as much QB Power as you wanted with him.

    p.s. I’m...
  8. Re: The Problen with the 2019 nay sayers predicting 6-6

Jenkins’ HS film got my attention. Wow.

He’s built kinda like Deshaun Watson and seems to love contact. He’s a very physical runner.
  9. Re: The Problen with the 2019 nay sayers predicting 6-6

Javonte McGriff is the OL the coaches love. Even with all the linemen we have returning, he might get a real shot to win a starting job.
  10. Poll: Re: [GREATEST GAMES - FIRST ROUND] 2002 Western Kentucky vs 2004 Wofford

Yikes. I was trying to agree with you. That was a great game. While it stung, I didnít leave feeling that we blew it like I did in 2001. WKU was a good team, and we didnít particularly match up well...
  11. Poll: Re: [GREATEST GAMES - FIRST ROUND] 2014 ULM vs 2010 Furman

Yep. Even though we dominated throughout (everywhere but the scoreboard), that was a miraculous win.
  12. Poll: Re: [GREATEST GAMES - FIRST ROUND] 2002 Western Kentucky vs 2004 Wofford

    I agree. That’s the second-craziest I’ve ever gotten for a sports play (Austin’s TD).

However, I’m not voting for losses.

Re: Your Favorite GS Football Play.....

I remember Nate and Frank talking about a similar play they called ďthe Boise walkaway.Ē

Re: Your Favorite GS Football Play.....

If Walker stays on his feet, that might be the greatest play in GS history. Itís still probably the greatest pass in GS history.

Iím still not sure how Monken blew that one.

    Re: UTEP Transfer

I dunno. It’s odd, considering the previous staff turned the job over to him with good success at the end of 2017 (see the UTEP film, in which he runs for well over 100 yards).

    He looks good when...

    Re: UTEP Transfer

He had a big game against LA Tech in 2017, and there’s a quick cut here:

He possibly doesn’t look strong enough for FBS ball as a true freshman, but he...

Wow. Unique combination of elusiveness and toughness.

He looks like a great fit for what we do on offense.

    Re: UTEP Transfer

    Two things:

    1) Originally, I figured this was a back DeBesse recruited at UNM.

    2) Then, I noticed that he was born in Hinesville.

    Weird.

    Re: OT: New Traditions

You know, we’ve got a lot of traditions. There’s really no reason to call for or manufacturer new stuff.

I mean, we have iconic traditions that we rarely use or that are situation specific. Not...

John Pate carried on with the tradition. I guess DL coaches donít really use their brains anyway?

    Re: Andrew Cunningham Leaving

He probably just wanted to be at GS instead of hanging around JUCO for another semester. Unlike the players you mentioned, he probably wasn’t going to JUCO to raise his recruiting profile.

    Re: Andrew Cunningham Leaving

I’d imagine this would be the case. He could play JUCO ball this fall (he went through spring ball at his current JUCO) and come in as part of the 2020 class.

The major issue would be that we’d...

    Which knee-jerk comments?

Looks to me like he simply has an issue with credits not transferring here from JUCO. Perhaps the math he took to “get eligible” doesn’t have a credit-worthy equivalent...
