It is almost a requirement to be a GSU fan to get pulled over in Dublin. This guy gave me advice at my first ever party at Southern

    1. It's OK not to drink at parties. But it is fun.
    2. Always get tested the next day...
    3. Don't speed in Dublin.

My ticket was 88 in a 70 and it amounts to $255.

I don't remember Dublin being so bad, but I'll always remember not to speed through Candler county. Coming back from a rugby game at the Univ of Alabama in 1995 I got hit for 86 in a 65 just past Metter and owed $365.00.

I do believe there have been lots of GSU fans caught speeding in Laurens County on I-16.

I got one about 6 or so years ago doing 90 in a 70 running late heading to the Appy game. Got pulled over just past exit 111. Five more miles and I would have been on 301 and been home free. It was $485.

On the way to a game in the 2000 season I got pulled over in Chandler county, 86 in a 70 (I was going 95 so I wasn't going to argue) and it was a $385 ticket. I also got a verbal warning about my license plate cover, because it covered up the expiration date. This was a state trooper. I am guessing he knocked it down a few miles since I had a clean record.

Ever since that ticket I've slowed down and don't drive more than 10 miles over the limit. It still is the only speeding ticket I've received in nearly 20 years of driving.

what exactly happened to speeding tickets. i got a few in the mid 80's for $45. then they were in the $100-$200 range but all of a sudden there is the $400 - $ 800 versions.

they are the only things that have gone up more than gasoline and natural gas!

Cops have to pay for fancy light bars and F.I.N.D. units of Yukons and Chargers now. A crown vic with a little light dome isn't good enough anymore.

For some counties it's a great source of revenue. Where else is Metter/Chandler county going to get money from? Tax revenue apparently doesn't cut it. Same for Dublin.

It really depends on where you get caught. I've known people in the metro Atlanta area get tickets for 30 over and it was in the $180-$200 range. Whereas I get one for 16 over and it was nearly $400.

I heard that when it is a State Patrol that pulls you over that you are paying for both the SP and the Sherriff of the county. They both get their's so it hikes it up higher.
