Thread: Basketball starting five

  1. #1

    Default Basketball starting five

Here is the starting five that I would like to see coach give a try:

    Tookie Brown
    Mike Hughes
    Ike Smith
    Coye Simmons
    Monte Glenn

I am not saying these are the most talented 5 players, but I think these five will work best together as a unit and give us balance. We are loaded with guards, but playing small just will not work with our shooters.

Completely agree that it's time to stop with the incredibly small lineup. It's obviously not working so why not atleast give something else a try? Coye Simmons must have kicked Byington's dog or something.

I'm sure that the staff is keeping up with it, but it would be interesting to see the numbers on which group plays the best together.

I'd even go Burnell and one of Glenn or Simmons at the 4-5.

I like this. Like I posted earlier, Monte looked comfortable last night down on low block, back to rim, we stopped feeding him and then went to HIGH(beyond the elbo)post, i guess looking for the pick and roll when the pick and roll isnt Monte's game.

I went with Simmons because he is our best rebounder and Glenn is the only post player that can create his own shot.

I would prefer this. Burnell is shooting 44% from three. But Simmons does need more minutes. 9 minutes a game isn't enough, especially when we have only 4 big men on the roster.

I like it because O'Connell is not a center or a powerforward for that matter. At best he is a small forward and should be playing there.

O'Connell isn't a 3. Doesn't have the perimeter game. You are right that he's isn't a 5 though. He's a 4 all the way but for some reason we rarely, if ever, play him there.
