Can't wait to get to that 10k number! At this rate it will be our goal for 2017! Can you imagine?!?

Southern needs that home game if it chooses to replace Savannah State. For that to happen, it will be extremely tough to schedule home games vs non FCS foe's who don't want a home game in return.

For this reason, Southern is stuck in scheduling an FCS opponent. Mercer, Furman, Charleston Southern, Citadel, Wofford, Jacksonville State are viewed as logical choices.

On the other hand, Southern doesn't want to schedule the strongest FCS opponent and have a game that is a nail biter because we have a tough conference game the following week or a long road trip.

It's tough to gauge these things.

At the end of the day, Savannah State and Mercer are logical choices. I'm not sure how talented Furman and Wofford is these days.

Exactly. It did not matter how good those FCS teams were, it was two FCS teams. UNC was playing as good as anyone at the end of the year, the FCS tag on games cost them dearly. They could have played ULM over NDSU and they would have been fine in the committees eyes. A FCS game is quickly becoming a scarlet letter on your resume when it comes to the New Years Six.

All opinions against playing FCS are invalid.
Except when you are in the lowest rated conference. Houston could get away with it because their conference showed out...ours....IF we went undefeated Houston still probably makes it in over us unless we played a full FBS schedule due to the perception of the Sun Belt. App could not even crack the top 25 being 11-2.

We were in the conversation in 2014 and we weren't even bowl eligible.

We beat GT and Ole Miss this coming year and win the Belt, we're definitely in the conversation because it's going to be hard to top that.

App played no one out of conference in 2015 other than Clemson who took them to the woodshed. They had nothing OOC to boost their perception. Look at how our performance OOC in 2014 was graded (before the Navy game at least) and you'll see how easy it is if you just win your games.

Scheduling an FCS home game is a smart decision. Schedule games you can win and start winning the games that are traditionally more difficult. Boise, Utah, and TCU were BCS busters coming from weak conferences which allowed them to beat out P5 teams for those spots.

Win your games. That's all that matters.

    Just got my 5 today.

Maybe at the end of each month someone could post an update on where we are.

I'll have to disagree with this considering we did not have a single vote in the final AP or Coaches poll.

Houston played the access bowl slot last year with a schedule that included a win over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, a FCS team from the OVC conference.

However did they manage to do that?

Win your games. Run the schedule, and SSU won't matter.

I am on the gseagles ticket site, is there a time, after 3/15 (?) that you can see what actual seats are available?
