Breida may be odd man out next season especially if Jet comes back healthy.

He is a restricted free agent so hope he gets a shot with another team, assuming another team is willing to give up a draft pick or however that works.

His contract is up in March, and being an RFA just means the 49ers have first right of refusal but have to match whatever offer comes in to keep him. With the emergence of Mostert, the return of Jet, and already having Coleman, Breida is highly unlikely to be a 49er next year.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up on a team like the Chiefs where speed is the most important attribute for an offensive player, or make a speed-power combo in Tennessee with Henry.

Or, could Jet end up being odd man out given his injury history? Could he get cut and Breida be a "less expensive" replacement? Not that I want either to happen, but was wondering this the other day.

They could both be out honestly. Jet hasn't played an NFL snap since 2017, and they'll have a net cap savings of 4.5M if they cut him. With Coleman and Mostert on the roster, they aren't going to spend money on two injury prone RBs, one which has a fumble problem.

Jet has like 3 years left on his contract. How would they save cap money by cutting him? Brieda will be fine, someone will give him a look at RB1/RB2.

2 years left, and because his cap hit is 8.55 and his dead cap is 4. If you cut him, you save that 8.55 and lose the 4. Net gain of 4.55.

If Breida was not asked back, he’d had plenty of suiters lining up. Teams that know how to take advantage of players like him in space like NO or KC and others would be drooling on themselves thinking of plays to cook up to use that speed.

    I think so too.

He definitely has some real special speed.

I still like the idea of utilizing him as a slot. He’s great if he gets some place to run through, but he’s not the same kind of RB as Mostert (I think Jet would be very similar to that.). Unfortunately, that ACL looks more and more like a career ender.

Mostert is really nothing special. Average speed, size. It’s weird how he has emerged after getting cut by 6 squads.
Too many Urkels on your team that's why your wins low
