    Default Ayers Retiring

Woffy is having a presser at 1:30 to announce Ayers is retiring.

Wow. Can only say I had a lot of respect for him. He did things the right way. A great coach! They have huge shoes to fill.

I salute him. He made that program a lot more competitive than it had any business of being. Probably the longest-tenured head coach in DI. I believe Kirk Ferentz at Iowa is now the only DI head coach who was at his current job before 2000.

On another note, this might give Wade Lang a chance to audition for our next head coaching search whenever that may be.
Hey TK! Change the culture back!

If you think TK is the reason we don't have better non-conference football schedules, see this post.

    Hats off to Ayers.

I wonder if Lang is a given, or if Wofford makes a run on Woody?

As a fan of an App St opponent, I hope the latter.

Ayers is great coach and a pain in our butt more times then I care to remember. But we usually got the best of Wofford over the years.

I wish we had hired him instead of Stowers (Ayers applied that year and at least twice thereafter during coaching searches at Georgia Southern). But then, the whole world would be different, wouldn't it. No PJ HC years at Southern, maybe, for example. Ripple effects...
