Thread: DeBesse's Triple option vs Flexbone - crash course

Iíve watched several highlight videos from UNM, and while it isnít done for stretches of time, they usually always hit the flex formation a few times in nearly every video Iíve watched, fwiw...and plays out of that formation were even similar in many cases to how we were using it towards the end of this past season. I wouldnít be surprised to at least see it on occasion.

I think Deshaun Watson was almost strictly shotgun at Clemson.

    Easy. 1999.

    That offense was unreal.

Funny thing is 2014 was not far behind it....and both of those way outpaced any other season.

As was the 1998 O. Don't know the statistics, but the 1998 O was as good as we've had, until the national championship game. That 1 still hurts.

All of the top 5 QB’s taken last year were completely or almost completely shotgun QB’s in college.

+1. The O- line is key with any offense and if we arenít gonna be full time flex, then I would prefer this Fritz style offense. Iím on board
Peterson, taking care of business now. Peterson, still on his feet! Peterson, still on his feet! Peterson!! Still on his feet!

If I’m not mistaken, UNM only added the flex stuff after bringing in Saga Tuitele in 2016. Of course, it can be darn useful, and I’m positive Lunsford knows that.

All college QBs learn defensive looks. Some are just bad QBs

Were Ellison and Upshaw bad QBs?

Some of us really hope Coach Lunsford does understand the value of "flex stuff", pete4256. It is mighty good stuff as history has shown.
