Georgia Southern, Coastal, and Georgia State all lost to FCS teams this season (none of which were top tier teams). Texas State managed to escape an abysmally bad 1-win Houston Baptist team by 9 at home.

It's all water under the bridge at this point, but I don't see it.

At bottom, I don't think many people outside of their immediate fanbases care much about either the Sun Belt or the FCS. So, it's pretty academic in my view.

I feel the same way about NDSU at the FCS level unfortunately for us unlike you we don't have a FBS conference in our footprint that would make sense for us to move into and the MWC isn't knocking on our doors as far as I know. The MAC is out of our footprint as well and quite honestly we beat the tar out of their eventual conference champion Central Michigan back in 2007 44-14. That was before we were playoff eligible at the FCS level but I think we would have represented ourselves very well back then had we been allowed to participate in the playoffs. Well anyway I just stopped by because one of your posters posted over on Bisonville some of your comments which were very gracious. I just miss playing you guys and wish teams like you and App, and others were still around but I totally get the desire to move up and move on. Many NDSU fans feel the same way and many others are fine where they are just like the debate you guys had among yourselves back when you were looking at moving up. You made the right move and hopefully one day NDSU will as well.

For the time being us fans of NDSU that wish we would/could move up will just have to wait.

    Best of luck next season.
Just pull a Liberty. Go independent.

This. And why it should matter who cares for what or how much they care is beyond me. I just don't get this 'it doesn't count unless X amount of people think it counts' mindset folks have.

Course, I also never got the idea that paying to be be a 'fan' of somebody else's accomplishment is an accomplishment in itself. Seems a bit weird.

And they did it with no kicking game, their kicker was 10/21 on the year including a miss in the title game. That is at least 2 title's they've won with zero kicking game. FCS is becoming Mount Union and Wisconsin Whitewater.

You know me and Billy Bob go back and forth(in good fun) about the "water down FCS", yet our last FCS was what, 2000. How many years did we go in that water downed minor league level of NCAA football and NOT win a NC? I guess FCS became watered down the day after we turned FBS because no way a GS football team would go 13 years in a watered down FCS and not win a NC(smile). Give NDSU credit, there one heck of a football program and y'all need to start working on your acceptance, they will win #7 next year.

im sure glad we didn't play Mount Union or Whitewater, it was bad enough losing to FCS UNH.

It was watered down when we made our first trip back into the playoffs in 2010.

The only reason we made it in was a 20 team playoff field. In a 16 team field we wouldn't have been in at all.

As long as there are no scholarship minimums required for participation, and as long as conferences don't push for improved support/resources to improve football, then it'll continue to be watered down. The Socon wants to be a basketball conference, but they just happen to have some decent football programs. The only reason they even have a digital network is due to the exit fees us and App State paid upon our exit...if not for that it wouldn't exist.

The old timers remember the FCS of the 80s and 90s, when it was more legit than it is now and when the game was in a different era. When the first million dollar contract was offered to a head coach in FBS though, the game changed, and FCS never had a chance. All the teams leaving left because there was an artificial ceiling placed on everyone.

We struggled not because we weren't a good team, but because we had a first time HC who had to re-establish our program and honestly made mistakes along the way. NDSU's system has been stable the entire time through their transition and they've had solid support throughout, which is something we've never really had (or we wouldn't be having these conversations about Bulloch County on their knees for UGA right now).

NDSU is the ruler of the roost for FCS, and will likely be until such time they decide to leave. It is not normal for one team to be able to maintain that level of domination if the league truly has parity.

Oh, I take it you're not a sports fan, then...
Don't choose to be annoyed. Choose to be amused.

If you think TK is the reason we don't have better non-conference football schedules, see this post.

Congrats, Bison. NDSU will be successful, regardless of division. A culture of winning will stand the test of time.
