To be fair, only 5 people out of 64 have graded below a B+, and those are probably grading the class of signees against where our idealized potential should be when not hamstrung by staff changes and losing seasons.

You would absolutely be correct if this thread was called 'Grade the recruiting effort by this staff,' or 'Grade the recruiting class considering the circumstances,' but it is not, is it? It is called 'Grade the recruiting class,' and considering that 86 other programs are ranked higher I think A+ is considerably too generous.

Hopefully they all make it to campus.

Didn't even make it to campus
    Ryan Peterson (***)
    Cornelius Collins (**) (??)
    LaDerrick Roberts (**) (??)

Enrolled but didn't make it past the first year
    Ken Thomas (***)
    Kameron Maye (***)
    Luke Lewallen (**) (??)

Stayed longer than a year but few or no starts
    Christian Taylor (**)
    Tristan Hill (**)
    Ian Bush (***)
    Christian Williams (**)
    Travyvon Williams (***)
    Ken Butler (***)
    Zack Copeland (**)

    Significant Number of Starts
    Darrius Sapp (***)
    Darrius White (***)
    Ryan Northrup (**)
    Derek Keaton (**)
    Caleb Williams (**)
    Tommy Boynton (**)
    Chris Delarosa (**)
    Monteo Garrett (NR)
    Ross Alexander (**)

So if I counted right this class we had 7 3-star guys, and 15 non-3-star guys.

2 of the 7 3-star guys got into the last category
7 of the 15 non-3-star guys got into the last category

Don't choose to be annoyed. Choose to be amused.

If you think TK is the reason we don't have better non-conference football schedules, see this post.

Peterson and Collins both made it onto campus.

Maye was around for more than a year.

Still, that is a pretty interesting and revealing analysis.

I'd say that's the norm even at Bama. Difference is those half hits turn into AA's and go to the NFL.

2014 was more notable for the guys who flipped away after Monken left (Richie James) as well as attrition before the new staff got firmly situated (Swope).

Fritz was really scrambling, and I hope that’s not what we saw between the early signing period and this week. I have a feeling it’s not, as we didn’t go JUCO heavy or bring players from too far outside our geographic footprint (which is something Fritz and even Monken did in their first classes).

What we’ve signed doesn’t SEEM like a transition class, but appearances can be deceiving.

Just looking at that list, Fritz inherited some of those commitments from Monken; all told he brought in six JUCO transfers, three late signees, and eight guys from outside of Georgia and its surrounding states (that overlaps with the JUCO list).

To me, that’s scrambling. This year, almost all of our players are from our standard recruiting areas (Georgia, SC, and Florida).

Of course, Fritz was doing what he could with prior contacts (just as he took some potential GS recruits to Tulane later). Lunsford has been in this area the whole time so his contacts are more local.

I have nothing against recruiting outside our area, but this area has so much talent that we need to use it.
