Thread: SMN: Next GSU President Must Embrace Armstrong

  1. Default Re: SMN: Next GSU President Must Embrace Armstrong

This next hire is going to be a pivotal moment in GS history. I hope the BOR and the search committee aren't being cavalier with this "nation wide search"

I agree with eaglewraith that this hire will reveal what exactly the BOR is planning on doing with us. If they pick a strong candidate with experience operating another large football school, we should be heading for research reclassification. If they pick a dumpy yes man, there's a strong possibility that we could become just a slightly larger West Georgia.

Are you referring to this part?
The merger should amplify Georgia Southern’s stature. The university is a public research institution and a tremendous asset across all sectors, from businesses to education to government, in a city on the come nationally and internationally.
Yet in Hebert’s two years, GSU seemed content to be a fast-growing liberal arts school in a rural small town with a sub-campus in Savannah.

"[GS] is now a regional school"

    Uhh wut?
Don't choose to be annoyed. Choose to be amused.

If you think TK is the reason we don't have better non-conference football schedules, see this post.

Did no one see that the new SMN editorial page editor (who is responsible for writing the paper’s editorials, like this one, among other duties) is ...

    Adam Van Brimmer?

took over for Tom Barton a few months ago

Who exactly is the research comittee? I know who the BOR is....UGA. Yes some of our best leadership we have had got pushed out for making bold moves. Whatevever happens it will be a tough job to handle, but could put us a step higher than we are.

You know that guy that has a lot of the same opinions as you but is a complete ******* about it and makes you want to punch him in the face?

That's kinda how I feel about this article.

Kennesaw St. just named the Provost from UGA as their President. The BOR views as a peer to them. We'll see if they give us an understudy from UGA as well.

Hopefully the BOR sees more potential in us than a commuter school for North Atlanta kids who want to live with their parents while they're in college.
