Thread: Here We Grow Again

  1. Default Here We Grow Again

Great writeup in the Herald about the new buildings coming to our campuses. More specifically, the Engineering Research Center. Hope we call it “the ERC.” I didn’t know it was the largest project in the state’s fiscal budget this year. That’s pretty neat. The article also implied that more engineering fields could be in GS’s future.

Also good to hear some positive things about the interim. I was iffy on her but at least she’s a smart business woman who recognizes GS’s potential with the rapid industrialization of Savannah.

    thoughts?

    Excellent news!

im glad to see this. I know a lot of our engineering folks wind up going to gulfstream. Perhaps this can strengthen the relationship even more!

    Great stuff!

Here’s the Interdisciplinary Academic Building they are already almost done with. It’s next to the IT Building on the pedestrium. It’s huge, I got to go inside a few month ago when they were still installing the building joists.

Here’s the new Healthcare building going up in Savannah. I honestly haven’t been by to see it but I heard it’s been coming along nicely.

I havent seen any plans yet for “the ERC”

The IAB is replacing the trailers that housed the fashion design and rotc departments.

The new engineering building is going across Atkins Blvd from the new biology building.

For those that haven’t been to campus recently, I highly recommend it. One of the most beautiful campuses in the state hands down.

If I'm not mistaken, credit is due to VP Richard C. Armstrong, who passed away recently. He pushed for a unifying design for campus. He wanted the colored pavers and consistent style among buildings.

I don’t know if Mr Armstrong deserves some of the credit, but this entire project of campus uniformity, pedestriums, etc., started under President Nick Henry’s administration. He has been recognized for the “plan” at his retirement.
