Thread: GT vs Minnesota

  1. Default Re: GT vs Minnesota

There was not a single coach on staff that was going to have a job after the bowl, nor were they in danger of anything should they bomb the bowl, which they did. The soul was gone from that team and they're already looking at a complete overhaul anyway, so what incentive did they have to even be on the field? Woody already has a job with Army, so he was checked out as was PJ. I consider this game a waste of everyone's time and has zero bearing on the TO. Even Fritz, as good as he was. was checked out and left with a whimper also. We know the offense is good. GT fans on the other hand, are under the illusion that they're going to land 4 and 5 stars and regain elite status that they lost...in the 1950s. Good riddance to that trash, PJ deserves better anyway.

Please give professional coaches and their players more credit than that PLUS maybe Minnesota’s good play had at least something to do with the final score.

That is the last time you will ever see the flexbone at a P5 school.

Zero championships in a decade. Championships you cheated to win don't count.
So I forgot which one it is. Will this help or hurt our recruiting? 😄 Asking for a friend...

Tech looked like they didn't have good practices leading up to the game and that isn't surprising.

Tech is a small P-5 team. My brother remarked when they played UGA, "The size difference is astonishing." They have a total rebuild coming. The rebuild would happen much faster if they can land the QB who is transferring from Buffalo, but it ain't gonna be pretty.

As for Minnesota, GS MORE than has its hands full come September. Fleck said that his team is the youngest team in FBS. They will only get better. Clearly he is building something good there. GS better be ready to rumble come September because Minnesota is big and is going to try to out-physical GS.

Minnesota is a type team that GT does not play well against, but it became apparent pretty quickly that GT was not playing with any fire to them. It's just what happens in those situations. We certainly know about that.

I don't doubt PJ's professional attitude. What do you do when your AD announces to the press that the reason behind the new coach's 7 year contract is because PJ set the quality of recruits back at least 4 years, and that it'd take at least that long to overcome the deficit? Not to mention snide remarks now and then? If you're going to do an about face like that to someone who has lifted your program to levels rivaling the best in history of that school, then why bother?

Maybe because PJ has always liked to stick it to people who he has perceived to slight him in the past? As it was, that kind of finish makes the AD look like he made the right call.

Pj doesn't leave anywhere very well does he?

Loses to Furman on his way out the door at GS.
Leaves Navy before the bowl game that they promptly lost.
Loses to Minnesota in bowl and last game.

That's fairly common for most coaches though. Monken lost to NDSU, Fritz lost to georgia freaking state...
