Jersey? For reference, how many basketball jerseys have we retired? How does Tookie stack up?
I think 4 or 5 and Tookie stacks up VERY well with the others. Lets repeat, #1 scorer in GS history. 1st player in 44 year history of SB to be named ALL SB 4 straight years along with 1st SB player in history with over 2000 points and 500 assists. It's a no brainer IMO, hang that #4 jersey. Also first time in 30 years a GS basketball team has back to back 20 win seasons, 30 years!

If he wins the next five it's a no doubter

I still want to know how many times in NCAA men's basketball history a player has been honored first team all-conference four times. It has to be a pretty exclusive club, especially with the way players leave early for the NBA. There's at present I think 32 current NCAA division 1 conferences. I don't know how you even find that number without researching each conference and then asking them to check their record books to confirm. Sounds like a great job for an SID intern.

I would love to know that number, and then use that for historical perspective for Tookie's career. But first things first in NOLA...

Four jerseys have been retired for basketball- also listing total career points not as the sole determinant for retirement but arguably the largest factor:

#15 Scotty Perkins (1181 career points)
#20 Michael Curry (1121 career points)
#22 Chester Webb (2542 career points)
#42 Jeff Sanders (1861 career points)

Simonds made a point to congratulate him on Twitter. They are good friends.

Yeah they would have played together at Mississippi State if the coach hadn't been fired. Both GSUs benefited in the end.

Bit of trivia, Coach Webb taught at Lunsford's high school Alma Mater.

That is a very compelling case. Let's hope he closes the deal over the next week or two.

Actually he is #1 since we have been Georgia Southern. Webb was Georgia Teachers College.
