What a strange post. I'm not really sure what your point is, here. It's not like it's only money games where things go worse than expectations.

We've had 9 Power 5 games since becoming FBS, and the only ones that didn't go as well or better than preseason consensus expectations were WVU and the two games in 2017, and the latter was because we were way worse than many thought we would be.

How our fans keep fooling themselves into thinking we're a P5 team is beyond me.

We're essentially playing a 10 game season. Minnesota and LSU are automatic L's.

I'm not fooling myself that GSU is a P5 team, but their are some P5 teams that GSU can beat.

Maybe not LSU but if you look at the Gophers last 2 years then yeas GSU has a chance.

Why don't you hook us up with Vandy?

    From a Gopher Board fan

"The QB has to be able to make some plays. That loss against NW showed what a really good defense can do against a Tanner Morgan type of QB. "

LOOKS LIKE WERTS HAS IMPROVED OVE THE LAST SCRIMAGE AND LAST SEASON!

DOES THIS UPSET YOU BUZZ?????????????????????????????????????????????? ???

Georgia Southern football shows signs of offensive expansion in 2nd scrimmage

STATESBORO — Georgia Southern’s second scrimmage of summer camp consisted of 114 plays from various field positions in front of a nice crowd on Saturday at Paulson Stadium.

Redshirt junior quarterback Shai Werts led the first-team offense which showed signs of its offseason playbook expansion under second-year offensive coordinator Bob DeBesse, while the defensive depth at the disposal of coordinator Scot Sloan was also on full display.
Werts was pleased with the entire team’s performance, and as Fall semester classes start this week on campus, he said the Eagles are right where they need to be.
“The operation part of it, I feel like we were real clean and not too many penalties and things like that today,” said the fully-focused Werts of the team’s performance in front of a sizable group of Eagle fans.
“I feel like (the smooth operation) was the biggest improvement from Scrimmage No. 1 and No. 2. Obviously, with a lot of stuff going on (off the field), I wasn’t really able to focus only on football. But now that I’m back and that’s over with, all of my focus has been on football.

"They're athletic enough that the unique offense is a problem on a regular week schedule."
I guess this coach didn't get the memo that we aren't a contrarian offense anymore and you're only an option offense if you run the flexbone.

GSU can be a CONTRAIAN offense some times depending on the other teams defense.

What book did you read that mentioned a contrarian approach for an offense?

Are you talking about the 5 wideouts for an option team?

And some GSU fans said we couldn't beat the Gophers and now some say we can beat LSU.

I say we just beat them both!

If we come out of our first 2 games healthy and have looked real good no matter if we are 2-0 or 1-1, I do think we could go in there and upset them. But Buzz is right, on paper we have 10 winable games and 2 P5 games that no one expects us to win. Welcome to the world of G5 division one football. Just like Maine coming down to play us. A FCS division one football team on paper isn't suppose to beat us. Interesting, 3 divisions of D1 football, P5,G5 and FCS. What's the old saying the more things change the more they stay the same.
