. . . but I can appreciate music of all types/eras to some degree. However, I don’t get this song at all. Take out the mumbled, obscene lyrics and it’s a basic repetitive electronic drum track. I mean there’s no music, no tune, it’s like somebody started making a song and quit after the first track. It sounds like one of the automatic backing effects on a child’s electronic keyboard. When I first heard people referring to it, I looked it up and all I could think was “That can’t be it”. I thought I’d found the wrong Mo Bamba song. I don’t get how this became a popular song, much less something that qualifies as a ‘hype’ song. At least a song like Old Town Road has a catchy hook, a novel fusion of styles, and a danceable beat- like it or hate it-that explains why it gets the masses wiggling and singing along.
