I agree with the 2 posts above. There were a lot of missed plays, over the years in the past that coast games. Going back to the last game we had with NDSU. The 2 back to back Defensive 15 yard penalties and fumble put NDSU back in position to win. Still if your only talking 1 bad play coasting GSU/GSU a game you have to look at total team performance during the game.

Still I do remember when GSU played App State under Monken, GSU had 3 shots at 3 different field goals and missed them all. I think if we had gotten just 2 of them we would have won that game.
The offense drove GSU down the field, but those 3 missed field goals really hurt. I dont like to blame a field goal kicker in the last seconds of the game for missing the go ahead win, but in this case we missed 3 for 9 points.

I'm almost sad I replied to this thread. I dont like GSU placing the blame against the players. The coaches are fair game.
GSU Spread Option FOOTBALL - out weighed, but never outplayed

I agree with him, both were ridiculous calls but the GT instant replay was literally the opposite of indisputable, yet the call was reversed.

An inadvertent whistle is the Scarlett Letter of officiating. Then, they compounded it by straight up lying about it.
Too many Urkels on your team that's why your wins low

Hey, no doubt, I agree. I just dwell more on the GT situation because it was less self-inflicted when you look at it as a lineman making a great play to knock down the pitch vs a muffed punt.

Going for a TD when all we needed was a short FG to beat I think it was West Georgia. First night game at Paulson? Or am I confusing bad losses?

Not a single play but going through pretty much the entire Monken era with no competent kicking. Missing "gimme" FG's of less than 30 yards. Didn't we miss 3 FG's 25 yards and less vs Crapp State?

Both were definitely terrible. And the ref in the UGA game being too embarrassed to just own up to the mistake and make the right call on the field is pathetic. But to me missing the call after you go to replay is so much worse.

Also for me the GT call hurts worse because if the right call is made there that game is basically over. There was still a lot of time left in the UGA game. That was early 4th quarter in a 14-7 game if I remember correctly.

I had no problem with the wildcat playcall against UGA. It made no difference. The game was over as soon as it went to OT. The muffed punt was 10x more important.

SIDENOTE: I DID enjoy Jeff Monken trying to kick like a 60 yard game-winning field goal against NDSU in 2012 with a kicker we signed off the street about 36 hours before the game. Naturally, it never had a ****ing chance and was blocked into next Tuesday.

Should have thrown 4 straight “hail marrys” to Zach Walker after his catch.
