Thread: Sun Belt Week 11 and possible paths to the East Division Title

  1. #1

Default Sun Belt Week 11 and possible paths to the East Division Title

App @ South Carolina (App 30.3% chance of winning on FPI)
ULL @ Coastal Carolina (ULL 77.7% chance of winning on FPI)
South Alabama @ Texas State (Texas State 75.8% chance of winning on FPI)
Georgia State @ ULM (Georgia State 64.7% chance of winning on FPI)

Would love to see State get ULM'd and get a wake up call and face App high off a USC win. Also, go Beach Chickens.

The App @ State game is going to be a biggie. If State can beat App then we can afford to lose one of the next 3 games (which I think we will). I don't think there's any scenario where we can lose to State and still win the east (barring State losing to South Alabama or App losing to Texas state or Troy).

Not exactly sure how the tie breakers work, I know at some point rankings become involved. Only way ( I think) we will have a chance with 2 loses is with gag beating app, and us having head to head win over both. I think app will win any tie breaker that involves computer/rankings

If you think State has a chance vs Appy, let's take a look at the series so far, 3 TD's and 4 FG's total for State in 5 games. They've been shut down every single time.

    45-17
    31-10
    17-3
    37-3
    44-0

Offense has been improving, which has been helping keep the defense rested. If offense keeps improving, and defense keeps playing well, there isn't a reason we shouldn't win out. Not saying they are all gauranteed wins, but if OL continues to improve the way they have, and the DL can keep getting pressure on the QB like we did against App, we very well could win out. stAte and Troy aren't as good as they have been in recent years, but they do have a good passing game. Both have porous defenses.
Run the ball, eat up TOP, and limit their offensive series.
But as I said, our offense still needs to improve every week for this to happen.

You sure you're not thinking of the South Carolina game? ESPN probably assumed App would come in undefeated and ranked. Oops.

Depends on what happens against Troy. If we lose, it absolutely benefits us for Georgia State to beat App. It keeps us in control of our own destiny.

If we lose to Troy and App beats State, we have to rely on one of Troy or Texas State to beat App.

Not me, I’ll definitely be hoping to see State lose to ULM this week and beat App next week.

I'm hoping Gag loses every game they play. Anything else is secondary. We just need to take care of business.
