My, my - what have you come across?

The T-Option is the powerful ground game ever devised & the FLEX is the best way to run it.
If I want your opinion & don't like it I'll tell you what it should be.

You can say that about any offense. If you dont have the right Staff and players to run the offense and defense the team will fail!

Army has always been a poor team. At least Monken has made them a good team. They may not be good this year but look at Army's's history for he last 20 years.

The analogy is not about championships, per se, it’s about characterizing a superior accomplishment in negative terms because it’s not the ultimate accomplishment. Making the semifinals on such a routine basis was accomplished by one or two other teams over the period in question. Not winning a NC is not a valid indictment of the flex, especially when the alternatives failed to even once get us into the playoffs. Only because of our ridiculously successful history with the flex would “Did we make it to the finals?” even remotely be considered the litmus test for whether a season was successful or not.

Maybe if analyzed on a per possession or even per game basis, but not on a per season basis. The ‘worst’ of the flex seasons feel like a warm binky in hindsight. 1994 being the obvious and explainable anomaly.

Got an idea!, lets run off 10 straight seasons with 8-12 wins per year.

I'm not talking about in a super analyzed, advanced metrics kind of way. I'm talking about the revisionist history of some that the flex was omni-powerful and was never stopped by anyone, ever. Some act as if we were 15-0 every year because of the flex and that all we have to do is go back to it and all of our woes will be mysteriously fixed. The nostalgia of the flex makes it hard to remember the frustrations of the offense sputtering under Stowers, or turning into the double option under Sewak, or winning all of the easy games and not being able to win the big ones under Sewak, or losing 4 games to SoCon opponents under Monken.

If my math is right, we lost 4 or more games in a season 11 times while running the flex. Yet, losing 4 games now with much higher competition level is grounds for DEFCON 5 level hysteria. We are less than two full seasons removed from the worst two year stretch in the history of our program. Many are ignoring how catastrophic those two years were and that there is a significant bleed over that we need to be able to rectify over time.
