And 2 of those 2015 signees were good enough to be starters as freshmen which is why they aren’t around anymore. We have OL issues right now but none of those are Fritz’s fault.
    Lol. So true.

Now, if Lunsford is staying around and just hiring a flex OC, then that makes things a bit easier, but I doubt that he is going to ditch Debesse and the gun option for the flexbone. Remember, he looks at Fritz as more of a mentor than any of the other HC he worked under, and he probably knows that the gun option can be as successful as the flex. Also, as someone who has recruited for both, he may think it's easier to recruit for the gun option than the flex. These are things that we dont have inside knowledge on, but have to assume that the guys in the trenches know more about.
That assumes Lunsford can recruit the right talent, develop the players, manage a staff, and coach consistently at a high level. I think 2018 was a one-off year. Lunsford is still learning on the job and had a long way to go. We probably will not see another 10 win season for at least 4 or 5 years IF he is still here.

Lunsford:s future depends on recruiting, developing and retaining great players. If he succeeds in that our two coordinators will look like geniuses.

I posted a few years ago, the farther away we get from 2014-15, the more we will realize what a hell of a good HC Willie Fritz was/is. But haters going to hate. Thanks Half for posting a little reality.

Do you still wear that Members Only jacket your mom bought you?

    Y'all gonna make me cuss.

First, I'm not crazy about the O play calling either. But a lot of our lack of success is due to ol injuries. It inhales vigorously, but it is our current reality. Still, we aren't executing the pitch, making defenders commit before pitching etc.
    But our Defense got shreaded.

    Our Offense needs help.

But this whole blame it on the option generic crap is horse hockey. You think we are struggling now? Imagine a decimated ol without our running strength!

We better stick to our identity.
    We are Option U.

This thread is an attack on the option in all forms.

    "Nobody runs it anymore" BS!
I see it more than ever from the gun.

We can argue Fritz style versus Flex but we ain't going west coast, fun and gun.

I prefer the flex. And while we're on that, it's not "figured out" and "it won't work at this level" is a total farce.
We can, do get better Athletes than the service academies. If they can do what they are doing in better conferences than ours, imagine what we could do with it in the Belt. And don't give me the Army has ran out of surprise now junk, are you not aware of their injury struggles this season? Yes they lost to GAST. But so did Troy and Tennessee, etc.

There are plenty of option players available. Yes, we need to work on the passing game.

I don't want to be CrApp State.
We can be much more, the option can get us there.
So they beat Muschamp, so did we. I'm glad they did and UNC.

We don't need to follow their path. Let's just do us better.
If that means going back to the Flex at some point... Fine.
But for now, there is. No Reason we can't dominate with a good gun option if we can get healthy and call better plays.

I'll say this though. IF we ever do run the Flex at this level, with the right coaching staff.... You'd see it's success like no other place. An FBS program, located in the perfect recruiting spot with no player restrictions (military life or Academic),... It'd really be something. An Offense just contrary enough to make it a more difficult to prepare for than all the gun options..... Ahhhh, I'd love to see it.

But hey, it ain't over this season.
We need to find away to win out and hope GAST beats App St.

You start with the concept we are trying to run and move toward it yes. We do have other QBs if he can’t pick the concepts up. If not we recruit a stud.

Typed a long response to this, but deleted it. Let me just say this. People were upset/frustrated with the situation after he left more than anything, but I don't know anyone that hates WF, maybe u do.
