Thread: Can't figure Georgia State out

  1. Default Can't figure Georgia State out

They lost 45-31 to ULM.... Lost 56-27 to App State... but beat Troy 52-33 and Army 28-21. Beat Tennessee 38-30... But lost to Western Michigan 57-10..

It depends on Ellington's ability to run the ball. When he's not a running threat they are very limited.

IMO it's like App in 2008....they looked like they were going to win 4 national championships in a row until Armanti Edwards got a hip pointer. They were not the same team after that game and Richmond beat them soundly to end their playoff game winning streak.

We're a pretty bad match up for them. They give up big numbers on the ground and are an average passing team at best in terms of the SBC. Our defense should be able to shut down their run game enough to force a hurt Ellington to carry the team.

Not to mention one of the things that has burned Georgia Southern is the quarterback buying time in the pocket. Ellington won't be able to do that.

What are the records of the teams they beat vs the ones they've lost.

I imagine we'll see their true freshman backup, who isn't that great (at least now). Every QB on State's roster other than Ellington is a true frosh, BTW.

Of course they have the conundrum of whether or not to burn their backups red shirt, because I think he's played in several games already.

So beaten two teams with winning record one of which is FCS. Tennessee is still Tennessee no matter how bad they are this season and should have won handily. I'll give them props for that.

With a healthy QB they would have been a tough out for any team. Southern needs to BEAT them down.

With Ellington staying in the pocket with zero threat to run or with QUADDD starting, this game will get ugly for GaSt.
