Thread: What percent right now would you give to a 2020 college football season?

Sounds like the Big 10 is pushing this the hardest but doesn’t want to be the first P5 to call it. I’d imagine Wednesday all P5s will announce it together and G5s will cease shortly thereafter.

As usual, the liberals exert political power. Who cares at this point? Maybe it will give GS some time to get the house in order. I’m looking forward to hunting season - a lot cheaper, less stressful and without political overtones. Save $$ and get back to the basics without the BS. This coming season was going to be filled with political demonstrations anyway. We have already seen stuff! So take a kid hunting, save your money and enjoy your family. When everything is said and done, college football and what is happening in the political moment of the sport may not be so important next year at this time.

West Virginia AD, “if you shut it down waiting for a vaccine you might as well shut it down for 2-3 years.....”

I wonder what would happen if the p5 pulled the plug and the g5 didn’t. There would be some risks, but also the opportunity to be the only fbs football drawing eyes for the whole season.

    .0000007%
Or 1 in 14,000,605 chance season will be played.

Litigation is the issue. With the MAC opting out 8t gave everyone pause. Not that the MAC is an influencer, but it showed a crack in a united FBS.
I'm surprised that the PAC12 hasn't opted out already. Even with conference only schedules it will be a blood bath if any one gets sick or worse. The lawyers are chomping at the bit.

This is the final nail in the coffin for college football (and college athletics in general) in its CURRENT form.

By the time it comes back, P5 schools will have eventually broken off to become a minor league (and will pay players), while the rest of college football will be a wasteland of whoever survives the 2-3 year layoff.

In time, everyone will look back and realize this was the biggest overreaction in the history of the world.

You can make the opposite case very easily. We just witnessed, in our country, the biggest failure to heed scientific, rational warnings ever seen, second only to global warming. Now the Europeans are starting up their sports leagues, but we are in the midst of a disaster because the conservatives could not believe the science.

Of course, because they control the White House and the Senate, which are key to any rational, organized national response. But those darn liberals have managed to hoodwink the entire world. Except Brazil. Didn't fool them. And look; they are doing fine.
